Batchelor in New Stadium Plan

John Batchelor and YCST announce stadium proposals

The Trust is working with John Batchelor on the proposals for a new stadium in the City together with attached commercial developments. Next week the Trust and John Batchelor are again meeting with City of York Council for key discussions in relation to the development and potential sites in and around York.

Graham Ibbetson, Chair of the Trust, commented:
"The working support of the City of York Council is a vital requirement if we are to save City. This is not just about the immediate survival of the Club, it is about the long term future of professional sport in York. We do not want to face another crisis a few years down the line."

Meanwhile, the key process of negotiation and due diligence continues as parties work towards the change of ownership of BCH and the Club. This process requires positive co-operation from the board of BCH.

Under the working partnership proposals with John Batchelor, the Trust will have two board directors and an equity stake of at least 25.1% in the holding company that in turn owns the Club and Bootham Crescent. A legally binding agreement between the two parties will also provide certain protections for the supporters and community regarding the future operations of the Club. Once they are put in place, the Trust will have fulfilled its original aims of securing the future of the Club and providing representation for supporters in its future ownership and operation.

The board of the Trust comprises 14 supporters from the original Save City Working Party of approximately 35 people who have been working on a voluntary basis since the beginning of January, and continue to work, to meet its aims. The Trust will hold an AGM in May, at which time all members will have both the opportunity to stand themselves for election to the Trust's board, and the opportunity to select (through a democratic process) who should be on the Trust's board.

The interim board has appointed a number of people to positions within its structure. This includes Graham Ibbetson as Chair of the Trust, Paul Rawnsley as Vice-Chair, Richard Willis as Society Secretary and Terry Herbert as Treasurer. Further official roles and responsibilities are being drawn up by the board.
