Back the Stadium
Back the Stadium

York City Supporters Trust has urged all its members and York City supporters to back the campaign for a community stadium at Monks Cross.

The Trust believes that the current proposal is in the best interests of the football club and the City of York. The stadium would provide a modern sporting facility for both the football and rugby club with ancillary facilities for the community. Athletes would also benefit by new facilities at the university.

A new stadium would help to secure the financial future of York City. Without a stadium, York City Football Club would almost certainly have to go part-time and its very survival would be at risk.

The stadium will only happen if the associated development goes ahead at Monks Cross. The development itself would help strengthen York as a regional shopping venue and increase the attractiveness of the city to employers and visitors alike. It would boost Yorks economy at a difficult time for the city, providing new jobs and opportunities. It would show York was serious about sport during the run up to the Olympics.

The Trust Board urge supporters to register their support by contacting Michael Jones at the City of York Council. The planning application is reference 11/02581/OUTM. The email address is planning.enquiries@york.gov.uk
