From Trust AGM - Simon Mallet talks about the future

Regain the faith

Comments from the Trust AGM on 28 Feb 2007 (extracted from EP 3 March)

New Trust Board member Simon Mallett said: "The Trust directors can now concentrate, more than ever, on being an active voice of the supporters. The Trust should always be the official voice of the supporters within the club and we need to ensure that we raise issues with the club's board and that the board takes notice of what fans have to say.

"Life bans have been a controversial issue recently and we will be putting over the views of fans in the boardroom and hopefully helping resolve other matters such as policing costs. The Trust will also have an important role on where the new ground is located and what we want there.

"We need more active members to help the board in the year ahead and I would encourage people to stick with the Trust or get involved with us again and encourage others to get involved.

"The board is also determined to be open and transparent. There's been some criticism in relation to the openness of the Trust board and we need to ensure that's not the case in the future.

"We intend to work more closely with the various different supporters' groups and there's a big role still to play at the club. We still have 25 per cent of the club and two places on the board and we hope people will have a more positive view of what the Trust has done on behalf of the club's supporters by the end of 2007 after a difficult past year."
