Working towards the Trust's AGM
Working towards the Trust's AGM

Citys Trust is working towards the next Annual General Meeting to be held in the first quarter of 2007.  Once again, City supporters will have the opportunity to stand for election to the Trust Board and to help contribute towards the running of the business of the Trust itself and fulfilling the Trusts role in respect of the Club.

There will be at least five Trust Board positions open to members ahead of the AGM.  The three existing Board Members who are required to stand down by rotation under the Trusts Rules will be Sophie McGill, Paul Rawnsley and Peter Rookes.  Those Trust Members who volunteered in April 2006 to fill a number of vacancies will also be required to stand down at the AGM.  Each of the current Trust Board members required to stand down can, if they choose, be nominated for election.  If there are sufficient volunteers to serve on the Trust Board then the Trust Membership will have the opportunity to vote in an election.

People have to be a member of the Trust by 30th November to be eligible to stand for election and to vote.  As in previous years, an Election Working Group (independent of the Trust Board) will oversee the running of the election in accordance with the Election Rules.  Currently, Stan Collins is looking for a small group of volunteers to form the EWG.  It will involve a few hours per month up until the AGM, with the first meeting expected to be by mid-December.  If you are interested in helping the EWG, please contact Stan Collins via or write to YCST.

The current Trust Board comprises City supporters with a variety of age, backgrounds and careers.  The election is open to all eligible Trust Members.  The Trust could particularly benefit from contributors for fundraising efforts, communications, the treasurer role and people with general business, legal and financial experience.

In December, the closing date for nominations to the Trust Board will be notified by the EWG and thereafter details of the individuals who have put themselves forward for election will be circulated to all Trust members along with further notice of the AGM business and date.  If required, voting will take place by postal ballot.  Last year there were five supporters nominated for the four available Trust Board positions.  The Trusts AGM is being held a couple of months later this year compared to last, due to the work and personal commitments of the existing Trust Board members.

Trust Chairman Steve Beck commented We would like to strongly encourage Trust members to consider standing for election to help refresh and take forward the Trust in 2007.
