York City FC Secretary, Nick Bassett, is hoping that OUR club can adopt a system, which is currently being used by Conference rivals Exeter City.

After the end of the game between the two clubs, on 18th February, Nick witnessed around 50 volunteers staying behind for about 20 minutes to help with the clearing of the rubbish from the terraces.

After our game against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday 25th February, and at all remaining home games this season, the club are appealing for fans to donate a few moments of their time to help with the after match clear up.

The efforts of these volunteers will help Jez and his very small team of ground staff to concentrate their time on the pitch rather than the terraces when they report to work after a match.

Obviously, if all fans could try to avoid throwing litter on the terraces, the number of volunteers required to clear away the rubbish can be significantly reduced. There are so many ways in which we can all help.

If you would like to discover more details of what would be required, before volunteering, please contact Nick (e-mail or telephone 0870 7771922.) Alternatively, just listen to the announcement at the match and come along to the ground staff's hut after the end of the game (near the exit from the David Longhurst Stand)
