Working for City

A big welcome to all City fans at this evenings match.  Thanks for coming along to support your Club and your Team.  After the drought of home games in November/December, weve now got a flood!  And, on a cold January night, your attendance is even more appreciated.  We also welcome our visitors from across the other side of the Pennines.  Lets hope for a repeat of the performance (and result) when we last played Southport, when the weather was somewhat warmer and brighter than tonight.

Building for the future wall

Before Christmas, the Trust/Club launched the Building for the future wall as a fundraising project and to provide a new feature for supporters at the ground.  By the time of tonights match, it is hoped that the first bricks will be in place near to the Club Shop.  The wall is being built in such a way that we will be able to dismantle it and take it to the new stadium, so your name will continue to be part of York City for the foreseeable future.

It will be built with bricks and granite stones engraved with fans names and messages on two lines - up to a maximum of 15 characters per line, including spaces and punctuation.  The bricks cost 39.95 each in black lettering or 47.50 in gold lettering.  You will also receive a certificate and replica bricks are available at 29.95 in black and 37.50 in gold lettering for you to keep at home.  For companies and supporters wishing to have a really outstanding dedication, corporate stones in granite will be available which can include the club logo plus a dedication or message of support.

If youre interested in buying a brick for yourself or someone else and would like to help York City in this way, copies of the leaflet/application form are available from the Club Shop and Office.

York City 2006 Fan Survey

Last year, a small group of Trust members helped organise a survey of supporters views about various matters.  Over 450 City fans responded, and the results provided some useful information for the Boards of both the Trust and the Club to help plan for the future.  The Fan Survey was an additional way in which the Club engages with, and listens to, the wider supporter base.  The results also provided some interesting information that we published about the profile of the Clubs supporters, their attendance at matches and, most importantly, what they think about the services and facilities offered by the Club and how things can be improved.

Whilst the Premiership clubs undertake an annual fan survey, below the top flight it is unusual for clubs to engage with their supporters in such a way.  The planning has already started for the launch of the 2006 Fan Survey, which is planned to take place earlier than last year, before this season ends.  The project is again being led by Trust volunteer David Brewis, on behalf of the Trust and the Club, with a variety of support from other fan volunteers.

The York City Diary

Former City employee James Richardson continues to help encourage and co-ordinate fundraising efforts by all City fans.  For the role to have as much impact as possible, it requires help and communication from other City fans, particularly the various supporter groups.  Aspects of the role include: collating a rolling-diary of events to help avoid clashes, sustain momentum throughout the year, and increase participation/success.  And, helping to keep track of monies raised (past) and hoped to be raised (future).  Updates to the York City Diary are regularly published on websites and circulated to the local media.  Please help James to help York City by contributing information.

And finally

If theres anything you think that you can do in 2006 to help York City, please contact the Trust or the Club.  This is your Club and it is what you make it.
