Billy to stay at City

Statement by York City Football Club

York City Football Club today confirmed Billy McEwan will be continuing his role as York City First Team Manager next season.

Negotiations between Billy McEwan and the Club Board of Directors took place Wednesday night when an agreement was reached confirming he would be committing himself to a long term process of rebuilding at the Club.

York City Managing Director, Jason McGill said, The Board is very pleased Billy McEwan will be continuing his role as Manager next season. The team needs a comprehensive rebuilding programme and we are confident Billy has the skills and experience to ensure better on-pitch performances can be achieved.

McGill added, After the years of upheaval and uncertainty at the Club, York City needs stability and a long term vision. It will take time and lots of hard work, but we believe our fortunes on the pitch will improve.

York City Manager Billy McEwan said, I am delighted to be continuing my role as York City First Team Manager next season. There is a tough job ahead, but I am prepared for the challenge and I am excited at the prospect of rebuilding the team over the closed season.

McEwan added, The support of the Board and the fans was a key factor in my decision to stay. York City is a club with great potential and I would like to play an important part in its resurgence. With hard work, professionalism and the right players I know we will all see better times at the Club.

The York City Supporters Trust, owners of the Club, welcomed the news. Trust Chairman Richard Snowball said, The Supporters Trust fully support and welcome the continuation of Billy McEwan as York City Manager. He is well respected by the supporters and has the strong leadership skills we require to take this Club forward on the pitch.
