Trust donates a further 60,000 to help the new Club's finances

York City Supporters Trust has made a 60,000 contribution to York City Football Club Limited. The money is to help the Club through the summer months and to help fund the clubs operations over the forthcoming season.

Trust spokesperson Kirsten Gillies commented:
The 60,000 cash injection is to help see the Club through the next season and provides funds towards the Managers budget for players. This was money raised by the fans to help the Club and that is how it is now being used.

When York City was on the brink of extinction, some people said it was beyond salvation and that the fans would never be able to save it. City fans have raised a remarkable 1/2 million to save their Football Club for the City and community of York.

The Trusts latest contribution is largely from donations and fundraising since mid-March, when the Trusts rescue package for the Club was finalised. The Trust Board considered a recent application from the Club Board for funding and, on the basis that the Trust exists to support the Club, decided to transfer the monies across. This now leaves the Trust itself with relatively little cash reserves.

Going forward, in addition to the Trusts supervisory role (as the majority shareholder of the Club), the Trust will continue to raise funds to support both its own work and to make contributions to help fund the operations of the Club. Any supporters interested in helping the Trusts fundraising work are asked to contact Kirsten Gillies via the Club or kirsten@ycst.org.uk
