Working for York City

The Boards of the Club and Trust are seeking to identify a volunteer to be a director of York City Football Club Limited, to fulfil the role of a Commercial Director.  Please refer to the separate Trust article regarding this matter and as included in the Match Programme on 5th March.  Please can anyone interested in being considered for appointment to the Club Board to undertake this role provide a written application and a brief CV by 19th March 2005.  Please submit via any Trust or Club Board member and/or by writing to the Trust Secretary c/o Bootham Crescent.

If anyone would like to discuss the matter further, please contact any members of the Football Club or Trust Boards.

As published previously, the Club Board have prepared a brief job spec as outlined below.

The Commercial Director needs to be available for Football Club responsibilities, including meetings, telephone work and correspondence during normal business hours. Therefore normal daytime employment must permit this use of time and facilities during working hours.

For parity, to match existing Directors loans to the Football Club.

[Note added: Some supporters have commented about the Club's 'advert' for Commercial Director (that first appeared in the match programme several weeks ago and is now available on the Trust's website). The legal responsibilities of being a Club Director are not insignificant. The Club's advert included a comment about directors' loans. Each of the current Club directors have personally loaned money to York City Football Club, as disclosed in the Club's Accounts (which are publicly available via Companies House and on the Trust's website). In some respects, it may be desirable - and some may suggest 'fair' - that an incoming director should consider providing, if possible, a loan to the Club in parity with their fellow directors. This is not an absolute requirement for appointment as a Director of York City Football Club, but it is a matter that may be considered. As set out below, both the Club and Trust Boards continue to strive to work in the best interests of York City Fotoball Club.]
