Supporters of Tomorrow initiative

York the heart of the community

As part of the Nationwide Building Societys Supporters of Tomorrow initiative, York City Football Club has today launched an exciting competition which will help to encourage and promote girls football in North Yorkshire.

The competition is open to all under 14 girls teams in the area and the winning side will take part in a 2 hour training session with the York City coaching staff and will also receive 50 free tickets for the York City v Woking game on Saturday 19th February.

During half-time, our competition winners will also have the opportunity to perform a skills display in front of the City faithful and will also be presented with a new strip courtesy of York City Football Club.

To take part in this unique competition you have to be a player or manager of an under 14 girls football team in North Yorkshire. The applicants can be from either a school or local sports club.

To enter, please send a team photo with full contact details of the teams manager, along with a 100 word statement why your team should be chosen to the following address:

The deadline for applications is Monday 17th January.

Once all the applications have been received, they will be judged by a special panel including York City Community Director, Sophie McGill, Head of Youth Development, Paul Stancliffe and York City Ladies Captain, Abbi Webster when the lucky team will be selected.

Commenting on the competition, City Communications and Community Director, Sophie McGill said, This is an exciting new initiative for the Club and we hope as many under 14 girls teams as possible in the area will apply to take part. The successful team will have the unique opportunity to experience expert coaching, free match tickets and most significantly a new strip courtesy of the Minstermen.

The Club confirmed the initiative will be funded by a 1500 grant from Conference sponsors Nationwide Building Society.

Finally McGill added, On behalf of York City Football Club would like to thank Nationwide for supporting this positive scheme to promote and encourage girls football in our region.
