Team Selecta update - End September 2004

Current standings & report

The competition is now seriously under way and there is very fierce competition for the top spot.

In the lead with 196 points, but only by one point, is Glenn Cockerill 1. Good going Glen, you’ve obviously chosen your teams well.

There are three competitors on 195 points, and in descending order on the “goals scored” rule are Ruth Laird, C. Andrews, and, taking a well earned break from his job in gutter journalism, Andy Leathley.

Now for those who haven’t chosen their teams quite so well, and in the case of the three ladies at the bottom of the table, they have obviously used the old process of selection by pin.

With the pathetic total of 130 points are Alison Vaughton, Mrs. M. Suter and janet Wilks.

I had thought that the prospect of becoming the owner of an “I love Scarborough” mug would have been one to avoid at all costs, but evidently these three ladies are just dying to win it.

If, at the end of the season, there remain three ladies tied in bottom spot, the recipient of the mug will be the loser of a specially arranged mud wrestling competition, tickets will be sold and all proceeds to the Trust.

Who says I don’t have any fund raising ideas?

Mike Grant
