York City Foundation
York City Foundation

City mean business

The launch of the York City Foundation will take place at the award-winning Hazlewood Castle Hotel, near Tadcaster, on Thursday September 30 at 12noon.

The recent history of York City has been well-documented and is worthy of a film script. But the bottom line is that the club has been saved from extinction by its own supporters. It is now run owned by the York City Supporters Trust and run by a committed Board of Directors, who have secured the future of professional football in the city of York and placed the club on a sound day-to-day financial footing.

The York City Foundation is a new initiative which is designed to broaden the appeal of the club to the enterprising and successful business community of Yorkshire and beyond. Whilst great strides have been made to ensure that the club is solvent, we still need your support to build for the future and to safeguard York City for the generations to come.

The launch of the Foundation will outline the various ways in which Yorkshire businesses, and those of you who run them, can become an important part of the renaissance of York City. The Foundation is not just about raising money, though there will be the opportunity to make one-off donations, but also about supporting York City on and off the pitch.

Annual membership of the Foundation will cost 1,000 plus VAT. This will include tickets with named seats for the whole season, a dedicated Foundation venue at Bootham Crescent, hospitality before each game, recognition in the match programme, attractive sponsorship packages for matches and strong links between the club, its directors and Foundation businesses. The Foundation will also provide the opportunity for Yorkshire businesses to meet each other in congenial surroundings.

These are exciting times for York City. The club has decided, in the long-term, to move away from Bootham Crescent and to find a suitable site for a brand-new stadium in the York area. This will inevitably involve extensive discussions with the York business community and Foundation members could play an important part in this.

The speakers at the launch of the Foundation will be the Coun Janet Looker, the Lord Mayor of York, Coun Steve Galloway, the leader of the City of York Council; Chris Brass, the manager of York City; Michael Shannon, a member of the York City Supporters Trust; Jason McGill, the managing director of York City; and Adam Sinclair, the chairman of York Business Pride.

The launch will start at midday on September 30 and should be completed by 2.00pm. Champagne and canaps will be provided.
