Club match day price increase
Club match day price increase

Club takes action to help boost income

After consultation with the Trust Board, the Football Club Board has made the decision to increase match day admission prices from 4th October.

The Club's Statement (from 30th Sept) is included below.

York City today announced increased admission prices in the light of the financial results published last week for the three months to 30 June. Adult admission prices are to rise by 1 with effect from Saturdays game against Cambridge United. Children and concessions will remain unaffected.

In addition, City have announced that three further games will be designated category A games when adult admission prices will be raised by an additional 1 to cover the cost of increased policing. The three category A games are Doncaster Rovers, Hull City and Huddersfield Town. The Club may also consider re-categorising any further games should additional costs arise.

The increases were wholly approved by both the Club Board and the Trust Board, who were fully consulted on the matter.

Explaining these increases City Finance Director, Terry Doyle commented.
"As will be evident to all our supporters, the job of recovering from administration will not be achieved overnight. We still have a tough task to ensure income and expenditure are brought into line but are also determined to strike a balance between this and providing the City with a team to be proud of. Our league position after the first ten games and particularly the quality of football the team are playing, we believe justifies the decisions taken to date"

"We have deliberately not increased prices for children and concessions as we are already one of the most expensive clubs in the division for concessions and we do not want to discourage our future generation of supporters"

"We believe City supporters will understand that the cost staging large attendance matches, which require a much higher police presence is unavoidable. Police costs alone for our game against Hull City on Boxing Day are anticipated to be in excess of 7000. We as a Club are no different in having to face the realities of providing a safe environment in which to watch football for our supporters and again we are confident that our fans will understand why we have taken this position."
