Supporting York City

Welcome to todays game at Our Bootham Crescent Home. Please do what you can to provide support to help Your York City Team achieve the goals and result on the pitch that we all want. Off the pitch, Your Trust and Your Club continue to need your support. Please be proactive and do whatever you can to help.

Anniversary celebration

This time last year, those leading the Trusts Rescue Package were extremely busy dealing with a myriad of issues to help save Our York City Football Club. Throughout March 2003 there was a frantic amount of activity. As many will recall, it was around this time last year that the Administrators were attempting to get the appropriate CVA approval from the relevant parties. It took the Administrators three attempts! And was only then achieved after some intervention. The CVA in place was just one more hurdle cleared towards the Trust eventually completing the Rescue Package at 1pm on Friday 28th March.

To help raise some more funds, and to mark the anniversary of that momentous achievement, a Celebration Night will take place in the Social Club on the evening of Friday 2nd April. This is open to all supporters. Therell be a disco & karaoke, food and late bar. Tickets are now available from the Club Shop at 7.50 each or please contact any Trust Board member. Please support another Fun Fundraiser!

Project Spirit
As reported previously, the Trust is undertaking a review to develop the Corporate Governance framework of structures and processes to help ensure that the Club is managed in the best interests of the owners (i.e. the supporters and community of York), by applying good governance principles. The review is being led by a sub-group of the Trust Board and involves consultations with both the Club and Trust Board members.

Through the process that is being undertaken, what has become even more apparent than first envisaged, is that York City is at the forefront of developments in this area. There is no existing model in football to simply follow. Where relevant, were aspiring to the good governance principles of public limited companies.

Whats being developed is an overall package of structures and processes. This aims to address the make-up of the boards of both the Trust and the Club; the roles and responsibilities of both the Trust and the Club and their constituent Board Members; and the decision-making framework (at different levels, including Trust Members, Trust Board, Club Board and individual Club Directors). Whilst in some respects the product of the review will be a formalisation of practices that have evolved over the first year, it will also give rise to some changes at York City. Further details will be released in due course.
