A year ago...the end is nigh

Jan 03: York City heading towards extinction

Back in January 2003, York City was heading towards 'going bust, not been able to complete that season and complete extinction.

As the Trust wrote at the time...

"York City Football Club is heading towards extinction within the next few weeks unless the Gang of Four is willing to accept a solution. If the deadline set by the Administrators is not pushed back, the match at Bootham Crescent against Swansea City on 18th January could be the last ever game for York City."

As the deadline to save York City Football Club approached, representatives of the Supporters Trust continued to work behind the scenes to help engineer a solution.

Whilst there remained hope that a solution could be negotiated, more & more people increasingly feared the worst.
