Building links with local schools

From YCFC:

October saw the launch of the York City Learning League where primary schools around the city were asked to adopt a York City player and participate in our new scheme to help promote literacy.

25 local primary schools applied to take part and the club has been able to accommodate them all. During the rest of the season the York City players will be visiting their specific school and will be taking part in literacy activities, football coaching and the squad will also be attending school events.

The schools taking part in the York City Learning League and the players they have adopted are as follows.

Player Coach Lee Nogan said,

We are all really looking forward to working with the schools. This is a great opportunity for the players to encourage the next generation of support and also assist the schools in helping to promote literacy. I believe this will be a great experience for everyone involved and will further strengthen the clubs links with the local community.
