New website enhances Trust's communications

There are now over 200 articles in the Trust's News Archive.

The new website has a much improved news posting facility, allowing those who produce the articles to release them straightaway, without needing to go through the Webmaster.

Until the new website came on-line, many of the Trusts articles/newsletters were rather lengthy (and some still are) and, due to practicalities, could only be released on an irregular basis. The new facility now allows more bite-sized chunks that can be released whenever!

One of the key elements underlying the Trusts overall achievements over the past couple of years has been the Communications Strategy. The Trust has strived to achieve open and transparent communication on a timely basis with supporters (and the wider community). At times, some people have, rightly or wrongly, felt this has not always been achieved. At times, it has been challenging, when there have been so many other issues to deal with.

A variety of mechanisms have been (and continue) to be used by the Trust to communicate news.

These include:
- A good working relationship with the Evening Press, enabling Trust news and key messages to reach a wide audience across the City and Region on a regular (and at times daily) basis;
- News through other written media local, regional and national;
- Other regional media including Radio and Television;
- The Trust News page in the Clubs Match Programme;
- Directly addressing the crowd through announcements at matches (on a number of occasions);
- The AGM on 17th December will be the fifth public meeting during the past 2 years;
- Attending other fan meetings (such as those arranged by the Harrogate Minstermen);
- Trust Board members simply talking face-to-face with fellow City supporters;
- Written communication to Trust Members on several occasions during the past couple of years. However, this is a more expensive form of communicating (circa 400 to distribute a letter to 2,000 Trust Members);
- The Trusts regular E-Newsletters go out to around 1,400 registered people;
- Communication through the Arthur newsletter (that goes out daily to over 1,000 people) and other City related websites; and
- The Trusts website at www.ycst.org.uk.

Anyone able to commit some time and skills to help the Trust on this front in the future, please get in touch.

And coming soon, the Trusts Review of the past couple of years, titled York Cityat the Heart of the Community.
