York City Business Network - successful first meeting

YCBN kicks off with a good start

The inaugural meeting of the York City Business Network (YCBN) was a resounding success, with representatives of 23 local companies attending a lunch at Churchills Hotel in York.

The club was also well represented at the meeting, with Chris Brass, Steve Beck, Terry Doyle and Peter Salter all in attendance. The undoubted highlight of the afternoon was a truly inspirational speech from Chris Brass, during which he paid tribute to the efforts of all Citys fans during the dark days of last season and also spoke of his great pride in being manager of York City. People were left in no doubt that the club is now being run and managed in the correct way and that the atmosphere within the club is second to none.

A wide variety of businesses were in attendance including an accountant, a careers consultant, a graphic designer and an office equipment supplier. Each participating company has agreed to offer discounts to the other people in the network. This discount is then split between the purchasing company and the football club. Each transaction that takes place through YCBN will directly benefit the football club.

People immediately entered into the spirit of the network and business cards were soon flying around the room and contact details were being exchanged. Initial feedback was extremely positive and members have requested that meetings be held on a monthly basis.

Already the meeting has spurned a contract, with Antony Brown from York Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy Clinic ordering a website from Pete Brandon from WPS Media. This deal should net the football club several hundred pounds.

Details of the next lunch meeting will be announced soon. If you like any further information, please contact Peter Salter on 01904 624447 (ext 6).
