YCST Newsletter 24/10/03

Busy times ahead on the YCST social circuit

How a year flies by. We find ourselves charging headlong towards the Christmas period, with Chris Brass team still occupying a place in the top 10 of the 3rd Division. This is traditionally a time of many social occasions, and for your York City Supporters Trust it is no different.

The most immediate event on the calendar is the second YCST Race Night. The event will be held in the social club at our Bootham Crescent home on Friday 24th October. Admission is free, and the first race is at 7.30pm. All proceeds go to YCST. If the evening is anything close to being as entertaining as the last race night, this really is an event not to miss!

Guido Fawkes is known to have spent part of his life in York, and celebrations surrounding his failed plot to relocate the Houses of Parliament are usually well observed here. The City Reds will be having a spectacular event of their own. Due to the fireworks performed by the youth team in beating Hull City in their recent cup tie, the display will now take place on Tuesday 4th November at Bootham Crescent. Admission is FREE to all members of the City Reds on production of your membership card, with non-members paying 2 to gain entry.

Entry is via the Social Club front door on Grosvenor Road. Doors open at 6pm and the fireworks will start at approx 7pm. Food will be available. There will also be a raffle. No sparklers please! For more information email

YCST will be hosting a Christmas Dinner to see out a momentous year in style. The event will be held in the Dante Suite at York Race Course on the evening of Saturday 29th November. Members of the City squad will be making an appearance. Whether boss Brass will allow them to demonstrate their fancy footwork on the dancefloor after the meal is yet to be decided! The bar has been granted a license until 12.30am, with things drawing to a close at 1am.

Tickets for the event are 27.50, with a smart casual dress code in place. Booking forms are available from the Bootham Crescent Club Shop, or through Kirsten Gillies Forms are to be returned to Kirsten at Bootham Crescent, with cheques made payable to YCST. It promises to be quite a night!

A more serious gathering to make a note of is the Supporters Trust AGM, which will take place on Wednesday 17th December at the Grand Opera House in York. The event, which starts at 7.30pm, is strictly for Trust members only.

When all business of the AGM is concluded, there will be a fans forum, where City boss Chris Brass, along with members of the club and Trust boards, will be on hand to answer any questions supporters may have. More details to follow closer to the time.

The new YCST website is well and truly up and running.
