Get Down to the New York City

"Come down and see the new York City" is the message from John Batchelor as the Club opens its doors to fans and all for the first York City Open Day on Sunday 1 September

The fun kicks off at Bootham Crescent at Noon (until around 3pm) and it promises to be a lively afternoon for those attending. There is no charge for attending. The day's entertainment includes:

- Kids football skills challenge on the Bootham Crescent pitch
- Players will be around to chat to fans throughout the day
- Test your Brazilian and samba skills with new City star Rogerio
- York City Racing Team on display
- Bouncy castle and kids entertainment
- Prize raffle
- MinsterFM
- The newly refurbished Social Club bar will be open and food available.
- The club shop will be open for business with its stock of City merchandise.

Batchelor added:
"The 1st September is an opportunity for everyone in the City to get down to Bootham Crescent and be part of the new York City. Of course, I want everyone to come along and support the team on matchdays, but here's another chance for people to have a fun day at the Club."

The Open Day is the first time the Club has arranged such an event as it seeks to build a stronger fanbase for what is already working out to be an exciting 2002/03 season. The event has been organised by the Club in conjunction with York City Supporters' Trust. It is another demonstration of the Club's renewed commitment to embrace its relationship with the fans and the local community.

Kirsten Gillies from the Supporters' Trust welcomed the initiative:
"It's great for the Supporters' Trust and the Club to be working together in this way. We hope as many fans and families as possible get down to Bootham Crescent to have a fun day."
